America’s Finest City just got a bit finer.
This morning, Tony Hawk, pro skater and video game phenom, found himself in urgent need of a lift. There were no cabs in sight, so hailing a taxi would have been harder than sticking a 900.
No noob to technology, Tony grabbed his phone and fired up the Uber app. Within minutes, Peter rolled up in a shiny new Benz, and “The Birdman” was on his way.
So begins Uber’s “super secret stealth test mode” in San Diego.
San Diego is a unique market (70 miles of coastline!), so we’re going to be tweaking our pricing, fleet, and placement over the next few weeks.
We’re hiring a General Manager to lead the San Diego market, an analytical Operations Manager to run the supply and partnerships, and a fiery Community Manager to rock marketing, social media, and support. Let us know if you know the perfect person for the job and if we hire your intro we’ve got some free Uber credits coming your way!
Remember, while we’re in “research mode,” you can request a car, but be aware that availability will be limited until our official launch. If you’re able to catch a wave ride, be sure to send us your feedback at supportsd@uber.com or hit us up on Twitter @Uber_SD.
Know this new SD Uberites, this is for Adventurous Riders Only!
